I did a bit of research into HUD-financed coops and there are many types in Arizona. When I filtered the list down to just those coops were started by the same group of people in the 1960s that look similar to Concord Village (one and two story condos, cement block & wood, large properties, pools, clubhouses, etc), I found 2,310 HUD-developed cooperative condos in eight major developments, as follows:
Concord Village, Tempe, 373 units

Concord Village was created in six phases over a few years with separate HUD loans, and so were most of these, and most of them originally had separate boards for each phase. Some, like one of our sister coops down the road, Consolidated Coops, combined into one corporation. Others, like Bethany Crest, Echo Ridge, and Citation Gardens, retain their original structures with a separate board and finances for each subdivision (although most share a property manager, so there is a lot of consistency).
If you visit these coops, you will see "for sale by owner" signs in windows. Speaking to their boards over the years, I have learned that most coops in Arizona are sold as private party transactions. However, there are about a half dozen real estate firms that specialize in selling coops in Arizona, and they have sold thousands over the years. One pair of realtors in Scottsdale have sold more than 300 in Phoenix and Scottsdale alone.
I drew boundaries around some of these coops, and below are short urls for zillow lists of some of the recently sold transactions via MLS listings (again, the minority of all sales, but a good gauge of the market). You can see the units currently for sale on MLS within each development by changing SOLD to FOR SALE at the top.
